Texas residents who follow celebrity marriage may be interested to know that actress Mena Suvari has filed for divorce in her home state, citing irreconcilable differences as the cause of the split.

Suvari, who rose to prominence in 1999 when she appeared in “American Pie” and the Academy Award-winning “American Beauty,” requested that her husband, a 25-year-old concert promoter, be granted no spousal support. They had no children, though she said in previous interviews how much she had been looking forward to having children with him. They have been living apart since November 2011, according to the court filings.

It is not known if the couple had a prenuptial agreement, but her request to deny spousal support makes it likely that an agreement was not in place. If the couple had been married longer, there was a chance the divorce would have to comply with that state’s “community property” laws, which could lead to all marital assets to be divided in half. Texas is a community property state

This will be the second divorce for Suvari. She and cinematographer Robert Brinkmann divorced in 2005 after five years of marriage.

Suvari, 32, and her current husband wed in June 2010 at the famous Santo Stefano degli Abissini church in Vatican City, near the groom’s extended Italian family. According to reports, the couple hosted friends and family later at Castello Odescalchi, a 15th-century castle in Bracciano, Italy. Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise made that location known to Americans when they married there in 2006.

Suvari and her estranged husband had met in 2007 at the Toronto Film Festival and became engaged in 2008.
