One case that has captured attention from Texas residents and those throughout the United States is the divorce and ensuing property case between sitcom star Kelsey Grammer and his former wife, Camille Grammer.
The long-running saga began in July 2010 when Camille Grammer filed for divorce; their dissolution was finalized in February 2011, but issues lingered. They have been in and out of court since to settle child custody and property details.
Among the issues under discussion was the dispensation of the three homes they jointly owned, as well as $60 million in assets. Kelsey Grammer wanted to live in their Beverly Hills home and not sell it, but his ex-wife wouldn't agree.
Now, a court has ruled that the family home in Beverly Hills must be sold or leased, with the couple sharing the profits. It is currently listed for nearly $16 million.
The couple has two children, an 11-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son.
The couple had been married for 13 years when Camille Grammer filed for divorce, contending her husband was having an affair with a flight attendant from Great Britain. Later, Kelsey Grammer married that woman, his fourth wife, two weeks after his divorce; since then, they have had a daughter.
Kelsey Grammer starred in two long-running television shows, "Cheers" and "Frasier." He said he arranged for her to land a spot on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" because he thought he owed her a slice of fame in her own right.
Since the divorce, he has made public comments complaining about his ex-wife.
When young children are involved, parents owe it to the kids to retain their decorum in public when speaking about the other. Now that their divorce case is winding down, with child custody and most property agreements settled, it would be best for both sides to move forward.
