Engaged couples in Texas should take note at the prenuptial agreement one actress wants before she will walk down the aisle.
Sofia Vergara, who stars on the hit sitcom “Modern Family,” has one of the highest-paying contracts in the television industry. Still, the 40-year-old actress supposedly has said she will not marry fiancé Nick Loeb until he meets her request.
Vergara reportedly has asked him to agree to a prenup that will pay her $10 million if he is unfaithful during their marriage. The cost will rise for a second offense, according to media reports.
The two got engaged earlier this year while vacationing to celebrate her birthday. The engagement came after Loeb reportedly had relations with strippers and prostitutes. Media reports said that Loeb begged the actress to marry him, and she said she would attach a price tag to it.
Loeb stands to inherit a banking fortune. His current worth is an estimated $15 million. If those figures are correct, one slip in the marriage would cost most of his bank account.
The two are planning their wedding, which reportedly will be a ceremony at sunset along the beach.
It is fun getting caught up in the romance and the details of planning a wedding. Still, couples need to be practical and plan for the future, especially if considerable wealth is at stake. While many people do not include infidelity penalties as specific as this one reportedly does in their prenuptial agreements, they do take care to protect their standard of living in case of a divorce. That is prudent planning, even when love and thoughts of a forever future fill the air.
