Taking a look at the divorce rate in Texas

On Behalf of Weinman & Associates, P.C. | Jun 4, 2024 | Divorce

Divorce is a significant event that affects many families across the country. In Texas, many people decide to bring their marriage to an end each year.

Those thinking about getting a divorce should go over data on this topic and understand how Texas compares to the rest of the United States.

Statistics on divorce

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Texas had a divorce rate of around 1.9 per 1,000 people in 2022, which was lower than the national average. This statistic might lead some to believe that divorce is not a prevalent issue in the Lone Star State. However, it is necessary to understand that the low divorce rate does not mean that divorce is uncommon in Texas. In fact, with such a large population, thousands of Texans go through divorce each year.

There are several reasons why the divorce rate in Texas may be lower compared to other states. Cultural norms, religious beliefs and strong family values can all play a role in shaping attitudes towards marriage and divorce in Texas. Additionally, the state’s laws and procedures for divorce may also influence the divorce rate by deterring some couples from divorce.

Working through divorce

Despite the lower divorce rate, many Texans still face the difficult decision to end their marriage. Going through a divorce can be emotionally challenging and overwhelming. However, there is a supportive community of others who have gone through similar experiences and can offer guidance and empathy during this difficult time.

If you find yourself facing divorce, remember that you are not alone. By staying positive and focused, you can navigate the divorce process with strength and resilience.
